What does the Better Life mark mentioned on the package of Peter's Farm Veal mean?

Peter's Farm has received the Better Life mark of the Nederlandse Dierenbescherming (The Dutch Society for the Protection of Animals). This shows that Peter's Farm Veal complies with the extra high demands in the field of animal welfare.

It means that no Peter's Farm calf with this Better Life mark has a haemoglobin grade under 6 millimol per litre of blood, whereas the legal norm is 4.5. The calves also get more than double the amount of multi grain feed mix than is legally prescribed. Observance of the agreements is arranged within the quality system Safety Guard. De Stichting Beter Leven kenmerk of de Dierenbescherming also supervises the observance of the agreements made between them.
